Legion tourneys begin Friday

DiGiorgios Sportswear and Heartland Lighting/DC Electric will begin play in their respective Senior American Legion Baseball State Tournaments Friday.

DiGiorgios (Gross) will face Lincoln North Star at 4:30 p.m. at Papillion’s Fricke Field in the first round of the American Division tourney. Other first-round match-ups are Westside-Grand Island (10 a.m.); Millard North-Kearney (1:30 p.m.) and Millard West-Papillion-La Vista (8:00).

Heartland/DC (Bellevue West) takes on Columbus in a 7 p.m. contest at Columbus’ Pawnee Park in the National Division event. Other first round contests are Papillion-La Vista South-Fremont (10 a.m.); Millard South-Lincoln Southwest (1:00) and Creighton Prep-Hastings (4:00).

Both tourneys are scheduled to run through Tuesday with the championship game(s) that evening.
