Bears pick up league wins

Bryan’s Senior American Legion baseball team picked up a pair of league victories last week.
The Bears blasted Central 10-0 before squeaking past South 3-2 June 2.
The two wins gave Bryan a 2-1 record in Metro League play. After a 1-3 weekend in the South Dakota Tournament in Yankton, the Bears sit with a 5-7 record for the summer.
Bryan 10, Central 0 – Dylan Casey fired a two-hitter with 13 strikeouts to lift the Bears.
He helped his own cause by driving in two runs. Cody Kottich hit a home run and drove in two while Nate Wymer, Joe Glenn and Corey Burch also drove in two apiece.
Bryan 3, South 2 – Bryan scored all three runs in the bottom of the second and held on to upend South.
Glenn drove in two of those runs while Kottich finished with a pair of hits.
Kottich went the route, scattering six hits and striking out eight.
Sioux Falls East 11, Bryan 4 – SFE scored the final seven runs of the game in the South Dakota tourney opener.
Wymer and Kottich each had two hits in the loss with Braxton Arndt driving in a pair.
Pierre 1, Bryan 0 – Pierre scored the game’s only run in the bottom of the seventh.
Jake Vacanti had two hits while Bryce Mayfield tossed 6 1/3 innings of five-hit ball.
Bryan 6, Spearfish 0 – Jordan Binder fired an eight-hit shutout for the Bears’ lone tourney win.
Kottich and Aaron Hixson each drove in a pair while Wymer led the offense with three hits.
Yankton 1, Bryan 0 – Kottich had Bryan’s only hit while Vacanti allowed just one run over five innings.
