West, East reach district finals

Bellevue East and Bellevue West each reached their respective district championship games during girls basketball action Tuesday evening.

Bellevue West rolled past Northwest 91-38 in the A-2 semifinals at Bellevue East. Alexis Akin-Otiko had 15 points and Jalissa Felici 14 as the 20-4 Thunderbirds advanced to Thursday’s championship game against Lincoln East at 7 p.m.

Annie Mathews scored 14 points as East edged Burke 50-44 in the A-3 tourney at Papillion-La Vista South. The win earns the 12-11 Chieftains a spot opposite Elkhorn in Friday’s 7 p.m. finale.

Both Bryan and Gross saw their seasons end on Tuesday. Bryan fell to Lincoln High 50-34 in the opening round of the A-1 tourney at North. Megan Brougham had 14 points as Bryan’s season ends at 1-20.

Gross fell to Platteview 45-42 in overtime in the B-2 tourney at Northwest. Sadie Sidzyik had 13 points as Gross’ season ends at 4-15.
