Bryan to be tested this week

February 4, 2010

This week will tell us a lot about the Bryan boys basketball team.

The Bears will face two of the state’s best teams this week, beginning with today’s 5 p.m. game at No. 4 Central. The Bears will then host No. 1 Norfolk Saturday.

Making this task even tougher is that the No. 5 Bears will be without senior guard Ben Imig, who suffered a broken wrist in Saturday’s win over Papillion-La Vista South. Imig could be out the rest of the season.

Central defeated the Bears in overtime during the Metro Holiday Tournament in December.

Other games to watch include the Bellevue West girls going against a pair of rated foes. Coming off a blowout loss to Millard West Friday, the Thunderbirds travel to Kearney to face the No. 6 Bearcats Friday night before returning home to take on No. 8 Lincoln Southwest Saturday.

Class B powers clash when the No. 2 Lincoln Pius X boys visit No. 4 Gross Friday at 7:30. It will be Gross’ ninth game against a Class B ranked squad this season.
